send out monthly schedules of events.

DANCE INSTRUCTON: Dance Academy of State College: 1796 N. Atherton St. 238-3207. Offers beginning
and intermediate ballet, tap, lyric dance, and hip-hop funk. Ages 8-11 and teen. Classes meet once a week. Cost is about $15
per week. Some of these classes meet early in the afternoon in "homeschool" time slots.

in Piano Pedagogy and performance, from Penn State. There I studied piano with Marylene Dosse, and piano pedagogy with Timothy
Shafer. I have been teaching private piano lessons since 1997. My studio offers two Recitals per year for students: Christmas
"Mini-Recitals" at my studio in December, and the more formal Spring Recital. I am a member of the national
music teacher's organization MTNA, and also am a founding member of a new purely local organization: the Nittany Piano
Teachers Network. NPTN is dedicated to offering performance opportunities to students of all levels, and to continuously
improving our craft as teachers and performers through sharing ideas and performance opportunities. Through this organization
I can offer my students 4 more optional recital opportunities per year, including the unique Piano Ensemble experience of
the "Monster Concert" in April. I have experience teaching children as young as 4, through teenagers and adult
learners; all levels from pre-reading beginners through advanced are welcome at any age!

of Music in Piano Performance from the Harttt College of Music and a Master of Arts degree for Teachers from Indiana University
and over 20 years of teaching experience. She has lived in the State College area for over 15 years and teaches all ages and
levels. She is a member of the Central Pa. Music Teachers Association, the National Guild of Piano Teachers and the American
Guild of Organists. She was recognized in 2005 as a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music through the Music Teachers
National Association. She has a number of homeschool families that she currently teaches that could also act as a reference

HOMESCHOOL ORCHESTRA: Homeschool
Orchestra for the 2008-2009 School Year
Susan Kroeker, homeschooling
mother of 5 and professional musician is seeking interested musicians to play in the Centre County Homeschool Orchestra for
its fifth season in State College. Participation will be for homeschooled musicians in grades 6-12 from anywhere in central
Pennsylvania. Younger musicians may be accepted as well if it is determined that they are proficient enough on their instruments.
No prior ensemble experience is required and we will begin slowly, advancing with the students’ abilities. Instruments
needed: All
strings, most woodwinds, possibly percussion and trumpets/horns. The flute and piano
section is now full.
Possible Repertoire: Classical arrangements, holiday music, hymns, marches. We will begin each session with
scales and warm-up exercises. Each student will need to bring a folding stand.
Rehearsal location:
Robert M. Sides Family Music Center, 1801 N. Atherton St., State College
Time Commitment:
There will be four 7-week sessions. All students must commit to either the first 2 sessions, the last 2 sessions, or all
4 sessions as we will be preparing for 2 concerts (one in December and one in April) and we will need to have consistent personnel
in order to prepare. We will meet on Mondays from 1:30-3 pm at Sides Music Store in their rehearsal and/or concert rooms.
The dates of the sessions are as follows: Session I: Sept. 8, 15, 22, 29 Oct. 6, 20, 27 Session II: Nov. 3,10,17,24, Dec. 1, 8
Concert Dec. 9 (tentative) Session III: Jan. 5, 12, 19,
26, Feb. 2, 9,16 Session IV: Feb. 23, March 2, 16, 23, 30 April 6,13 Concert April 14 (tentative) Fee: $50 per 7-week session , $25 per session for
each additional child in the same family. Payable: by the second rehearsal of each session. Please make checks out to Susan
Kroeker. Mrs. Kroeker would

Addendum: Susan Kroeker has a BMus from Wheaton College Conservatory
and MMus from Hartt School of Music in flute performance. She has performed with numerous symphony orchestras, has taught
at many colleges including Penn State, and presently performs with the Pennsylvania Centre Chamber Orchestra. She also is
a contractor of musicians with her home business, Community Chamber Artists.
